I have a family of 4 a cat and a fish and I would like another pet. I would not like any aquatic type animal such as a fish or a frog. However I have very little time to care for a pet. I have clubs after school and programs during the week. I can not have a dog because of limited space in my house or anything that has to big a cage. The only other animals I cannot have are a guinea pig, a hedgehog, a chinchilla, a bird or a ferret. Thanks! Get back to me soon!

  1. How about just another cat?

And since you don't have much time to devote to training and whatnot, maybe get one that is already litter box trained.

I good place to look is www.petfinder.com

They advertise homeless animals and some are even already housebroken/litter box trained. And plus, you'd be saving a life!

  2. Hamsters ve a wide variety of sizes, and they don't need too much cage space. Teddy bear and black bear hamsters are great starter hamsters. They sleep during the day and are active at night. They are very low maintinance and are fun for everyone. The best diet for them would be a pellet type feeding which makes a hamster one of the best pets for you!

  3. a hamster. snake, lizzard.

  4. Please find a rescued animal to look after! There are so many creatures in the world that need looking after already, without paying for more to be bred into it. I would never buy another animal's life, I always re-home ones that need homes.

I'd suggest another cat, considering that you already have a cat and don't have time. Dogs want walking, animals that live in tanks or cages need attention, cleaning etc. Cats are quite easy to look after and independent, so that would be kindest if you don't have much time.

  5. Ok, in your circumstances I would recommend that you don't get a new pet at all.  Im sorry to give you this answer, and I know you wont like it.  But since you have very limited time, 4 cats, and you cannot have any of the animals I would recommend for you, you probably shouldn't get a new one.  Pets are a big responsibility.  They require alot of time and patience.  And the animals that you can't have, are the ones, other than a ferret, chinchilla,or bird, are the animals I would recommend.  Guinea Pigs and Hedgehogs take very little care. So they would make a good pet for you.  The same goes for fish.  But with your situation, you can't get any of these.  Therefore, theres nothing I can recommend for you except for maybe leaving a couple of school programs, or waiting till next school year and not selecting as many programs, then getting a pet.  But you definitely shouldn't just get one for the sake of having it. I hope this clears everything up for you, and I really hope you don't just get a pet without knowing all the responsibilities.  Good luck.

  6. Tarantula? They require very little maintenance.
