Question:

What animal totem do you want?

Some people have "animal allies" or animal totems or spirit guides. If you're going to have an animal spirit guide, wouldn't you want a chimpanzee or a dolphin? Something sort of intelligent, as opposed to a dog or a wolf? I mean I love dogs and all, but my dog isn't all that smart, at least not smart enough to be giving me spiritual advice. He eats cat p**p, for pete's sake.

  1. Animal totems are a representation of a spiritual guide that Native American people devised the qualities of from their connection to nature and animals.  The dog is known in this sense more so for things like loyalty and friendship rather than p**p eating.

  2. Hello

Just why do dogs do that! yew

We have an new animal totem link within our forum.

    See profile.

    Sadhara

  3. Because of my great intelligence I actually do have a monkey for a spirit guide, I find that if I punish him in some way with perhaps a light virtual spanking it makes me able to concentrate on telekinesis without being distracted by ethereal visions of Nina.

  4. I have one. My grandpa gave it to me a month before he died. It's not a dog or a wolf, It's actually a bear cub looking up at the sky...

  5. lol

Same reasons why human "spirit guides" are always Native American or famous. It's never just a guy who lived in a village in a small town in Scotland, ya know? People always want what they see as being "special."

  6. I have a hamster spirit guide.I overlook the fact he poops where he sleeps.

  7. I actually have two, a shark, it is of value with the quality of survival. Being as I was hospitalized in 1992 and the Dr.s said I would not survive the night, it came in handy to have.

The second came later and is a wolf, it characterizes the shy, quiet nature but when necessary, becomes protective of family.

I was working with hypnosis with one person and he did go on a spiritual journey during the hypnosis, it it an experimental technique but has shown interesting results, he picked up a kitten as a guide. To him he was surprised but it is actually more that he was needing of the curiosity to develop, he was at the pentagon on 9.11 and  later he had a heart attack. I guess he also had the benefit of a cats ability to pull through situations and still land on his feet.

I do not judge by what I think may be appropriate, I trust that what comes is what is needed even though it may not be readily understood.

  9. not an animal at all ,but represented as an animal ,wisdom might appear as an owl, strength might represent as a bear ,loyalty might be a dog and so on...........tom

  10. I want a French Bulldog or a dachshund.  Can I have both?

  11. My animal ally is a streptococcus bacteria.  Her name is Pinky Noriega Jr., and although I can't hear or see her, just knowing she is there gives me great comfort.  If I could pick one however, I might pick a T. Rex or something big that could destroy all the people who make fun of me.  Pinky could hurt a lot of people, but refuses to.  What is the point of the relationship if she won't even do my bidding?

  12. Intelligence of the animal has nothing to do with the reason it is your spiritual guide. It's really hard to explain, but you're supposed to follow the animals example.

P.S. I would  like my totem to be an Eagle or a Bison. Something that is calm and easy-going but can be ferocious when deemed necessary.

  13. animal totem? hum....... i'm gonna say, a rodeo bull with red horns. his name is TEXAS! don't pet Texas, texas bites!

  14. An animal totem is an archetypal being that embodies all of the qualities of a given species, rather than just being a single animal or animal spirit. Just because you like a particular animal doesn't mean it's your totem--totems choose us, not the other way around.

Any animal totem can be a guide; I have worked extensively with totemism from a neopagan perspective for over a decade, and I have worked not only with some of the "usual suspects" like Wolf, Bear and Hawk, but others such as Chicken, Silver Dollar, and Amoeba.

  15. I want a burro named Lucy to be my totem.  Lucy can wear a little sombrero. She can give me good advice about stuff. Me and Lucy would be very good friends.
