What animals are like porcupines? Or what animals have like spikey...fur or hair or whatever? =]

  1. Porcupines are rodents, so in genetic terms the animals most like them are other rodents - rats, mice, squirrels and so on.

    In terms of animals that are like them in having hair modified into sharp spines for defence, hedgehogs and echidnas spring to mind. Hedgehogs are insectivores, like moles and shrews, and echidnas (also sometimes called 'spiny anteaters') are monotremes - the only mammals, along with the platypus, that lay eggs.


  2. Echidna - The Echidna has long, sharp spikes and a long sensitive snout. When they sense danger they slowly burrow themselves in the ground with their long claws. If their is know place to hide, they just curl themselves into a small ball of spikes. With their long claws they dig mainly in termite mounds for termites.

  3. The Echidna, a small mammal found in Australia and New Guinea, also has many spines on its back, similar to a porcupine.

    There is also the spiny anteater of South America.
