What animals can inspire energy/environmental innovations?

i need to find 3 animals, preferably continental , insects ok, not sure if it can be exotic, but pref europeans or americans that can be compared to in terms of energy/environmental innovations

such as

1-system stop-go, an animal that stops its energy consumption, apart from hibernating, but maybe another kind of arresting, like no consumption of energy if no needs

2- full hybrid like an animal that uses 2 energies or that recuperates energy to function

3- a downsizing type, like a small one that goes super fast or strong (such as an ant that carries x times its weight), but looking for some speed comparison

Horses, burrows, elephants, and oxen can replace your gasoline driven vehicles. Fun way to ride as well. But you still have to feed them. Cows, chickens and sheep provide manure which can be recycled into methane and other useful gases. You have to feed them too. cows, deer, buffalo, and sheep all provide good warm clothing and you won't have to heat your home for warmth. But you still need to feed them. Stupid? Maybe. But you have to remember one thing. You have to use energy in order to produce another form of energy.
