What annoys dentists about the current NHS contract ? ?

Plainly there's widespread dissatisfaction among dentists but the media never make clear what the problems are.

  1. ok, before, dentist used to get paid per job, so , if you did one filling on a patient you got paid for one filling, if you did two fillings you got paid for 2,ect, now dentist get paid per catagory, so if he does 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 fillings he gets paid the same  .

    this is just one example, the system really sucks for them, and they have to meet targets, [they get points for doing work,]

    this is another reason why its so hard to get nhs dentist,

    say a new patient walks in with a mouth full of grot, say they need a consultation, xrays, 5 fillings, a root treatment and a crown , this will take the dentist an over all time of say 4-5 hours to fix, the patient will only pay about 150 quid, in the old system it would have been more like 500, great for the patient , but c**p 4 the dentist. now say a patient only needs a crown , they pay the same 150, not really fair is it?
