The table below shows a list of some electric appliances with the values of their potential differences and current. What appliance consumes the most power?

Appliance------Potential Difference(V)------Current(A)

A. Television 24 0.75

B. Drill 110 1.6

C. Bulb 12 4.0

D. Amplifier 110 0.2

Now, I know this is probably super easy, but my book is insanely vague. So, forgive.

  1. From your list, the drill consumes the most power because the product of the voltage times the current is the highest.

However, keep in mind that the amount of power consumed is NOT the amount of energy consumed.  To get the amount of energy, you must multiply the power by the time it was consuming that amount of power.

  2. it depends on the type and size of equipment so if you want to compare apples to apples do this divide watts as listed on equipment by voltage applied // mostly 120 volts and you get amperes of energy use // this comparision does work// as a rule the more amperes used the more energy consumed

  3. Power = volts * amps

Just multiply the V * A in each case and whichever one is highest consumes the most.  It is that easy.

I'm sure you can do the math so I won't.

    .

  4. B...the drill...(176W).
