What are 10 evils in todays soceity?

I'm doing a Pandora's box project and i need 10 evils that cause people to do bad things.

They cant be people .

They can be objects like money and guns.

The can't be any thing like greed, or hate, or lust, or gluttony, but they can be items that represent those things.

1. the Media (80% owned by 4 companies)

2. Overpaid "celebrities" (show materialism and lack of work ethic to the world, especially children)

3. Religion (too many people fighting over beliefs when the books have been re-written and edited too many times to count. just ask religion professors)

4. Money (the numbers show that Americans work more than anyone else in the world. The normal work week in France is 35 hours and they just raised it. The normal one in the u.s. is about 45-50 and even when we do go on vacation, we're still hooked up to our phones and blackberrys)

5. Individualism (everyone is looking out for themselves in a dog-eat-dog world, there is no collective backbone in the U.S. anymore)

6. Devaluation of the major sociological institutions (family, education, etc)- education is a major one!

7. Reality shows (15 minutes of fame to make a fool out of oneself)

8. Materialism and buying things that you don't need

9. Gangs (something must be wrong with the social ties of a community when members will kill other members for street cred or to have a family-like environment)

10. Glorifying violence (this can be definitely seen on the media, why do you think we have so many copy cat crimes?)

a white hood (like for the KKK)

a cross or some other religious symbol (this one takes some thinking about because on the surface religion seems to be a good thing, but if it is taken to extremes, it can be very evil, and cause war, suicide bombings, terrorism, etc. etc. many many people have died for religion)

here are ten (and some more) objects. i've included a description after some of them to give you an idea of what i mean. some of them are a little too deep but i tried...

1. money

2. oil (this is huge, i think the biggest one today. you could explain that it leads to greed and corrupt people in business and politics)

3. expensive clothing (to represent fashion and senseless waste of money)

4. make-up (also to represent that and vanity)

5. bombs (along with guns)

6. television (the affect of media and how it shapes our world)

7. drugs

8. alcohol

9. a crown (to represent power & how people can become corrupt)

10. have a brand name product (like a pair of nike shoes) and talk about child labor

11. a fur coat (talk about the fur industry and how it takes millions of animals lives every year)

12. a holy book (bible, torah, quran).. talk about how extremists of religions can take their word too far

13. the computer (internet leads to connections, opening people to things they haven't seen before)

Well, money and guns. =P Authority, drugs, alcohol, religion(if that counts) and any difference, for instance music, clothes etc. They are the ones I can think of now.

Interesting project... I'm not going to come up with ten, but I'll throw my opinion of one out there.

- religion: Ironic, I know. But I think that with just as much good as it does it can also do evil. People kill in the name of religion... And what's sad is that what is righteous in one person's eyes can be evil in another. It makes it almost impossible to determine who is right and who is wrong. Example: This war. We are fighting for what's "right." But we aren't fighting against people who want evil to prevail; they too feel that they are doing what is "right."
