Many significant pieces of legislation were enacted during Henry VIII's reign. They included the several Acts which severed the Church of England from the Roman Catholic Church and established the king as the supreme head of the Church in England.

In 1507, the cartographers Martin Waldseemüller and Matthias Ringmann published the first "modern" map of the world, the first map to accurately depict the American Continent and a separate Atlantic and Pacific Ocean, a radical thought for the time. This discovery developed an atmosphere of exploration and discovery in the arts and sciences of which Henry took full advantage in his court and daily life.

Henry VII did not have a 'bunch of wives', his wife was Elizabeth of York. Henry Tudor defeated Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field, bringing the War of the Roses to an end. He united the White and Red roses by his marriage to Elizabeth, giving birth to the Tudor rose with red and white petals. He was an able though cautious monarch who returned England to stability after the Wars. He also put the English Treasury on a firm footing. Upon his death he was succeeded by his second son who became Henry VIII.
