  1. In addition to saving money on your utility bill, water conservation helps prevent water pollution in nearby lakes, rivers and local watersheds

Conserving water can extend the life of your septic system by reducing soil saturation, and reducing any pollution due to leaks.

Overloading municipal sewer systems can also cause untreated sewage to flow to lakes and rivers.

The smaller the amount of water flowing through these systems, the lower the likelihood of pollution.

In some communities, costly sewage system expansion has been avoided by communitywide household water conservation.

  2. To preserve the environment by reducing unnecessary waste?

  3. make less trips to the restroom during important times

  4. I don't want to reduce my water consumption.

  5. ...unless "someone" has been exporting the Earths water to some foreign Planet... the Earth still have all the water that it has ever had...  it's all still here (it moves around a-lot) but it's still here... so enjoy your shower, fill your "squirt" gun and "flush" it twice...it's a long way to Washington DC !!!

  6. Reason 3 could be "to save energy".  Have you thought about how the water gets to your house?

Unless you're using rain water from a tank next to your house, your water is coming from somewhere else.  That means it's being pumped to your house, which requires energy.

Also, making the water "potable" (filtering it and purifying it) takes energy.  Consider that every extra minute you spend in the shower is at least 7 litres of high quality drinking water going down the drain.

The energy is being used outside your house, by your water supplier.  So, if you use less water, your water supplier uses less electricity or whatever to produce and send the water to you.

Maybe you're thinking, "So what? It's not my energy, so it doesn't affect me..."

Well, consider how much smoke and soot comes from power stations (fueled by coal, etc) to make that energy .  If you use less water, you can help decrease the amount of pollution in the world.  It might be a very very small effect, but it'll be an effect....

  7. 1. You live in the desert, worse, in the Gobi desert.

    2. Taking bath daily lenghtens your lifespan

  8. how about saving it for better uses (ie agriculture)

or cutting back so nature can use some for her ecosystems

or so we dont cause (more) desertification
