Baseball was introduced to Nicaragua at different years during the 19th century. 3.  Gallopinto is Nicaragua's national dish, it consists of red beans and rice. Most Nicaraguans begin and end every day with Gallopinto, it is also thought to have originated in Nicaragua, however there is some controversy about the origins of this dish.  (The Costa Ricans will tell you they came up with this food combination).
