What are the territories within Australia's national border that are not claimed by one of the states.

    The Australian Capital Territory;

    The Jervis Bay Territory;

    and the Northern Territory

    The External Territories are:-

    Ashmore and Cartier Islands

    Australian Antarctic Territory

    Norfolk Island

    Christmas Island

    Cocos Islands

    Coral Sea Islands Territory

    Heard and McDonald Islands

    Territory of Papua and New Guinea (from 1949 -1972)
