  1. its the high frequency carrier signal  amplitude is varied according to instantaneous value of the modulating signal.in am transmitters the input is the analog form so we have to convert that analog signal into the digital signal and in the output again the digital signal is converted into the analog form.


  2. An AM signal is a RF signal, typically 1MHz, that is amplitude modulated by an audio signal, that is, the amplitude of the 1MHz waveform varies as the audio signal.

    This AM signal is then amplified and sent to an antenna where it is converted to a EM signal, or a radio signal.

    Important because AM radio uses this, as well as many other radio technologies.
