Typical Army ranks in English are:-

    lance corporal / bombardier

    corporal / bomardier

    sergeant

    staff sergeant - colour sergeant

warrant officer class two(regimental quartermaster sergeant)

    warrant officer second class

    warrant officer first class

    second lieutenant

    lieutenant

    captain

    major

    lieutenant colonel

    colonel

    brigadier

    major general

    lieutenant general

    general

field marshal (some countries reserve this rank only for wartime)

But some countries like the USA will deviate and have their own system. And of course non English speaking countries will adapt their ranking system to suit their language, but typically there will be ranks equivalent to the above.

Insignia for Armies is often similar around the world, and you should be able to figure out a persons rank from their shoulder insignia if you are familiar with the British insignia for example. Again some countries like the USA will have drastically different insignia.

I'm not familiar with a "lieutenant brigadier" as mentioned in your question, but convention suggests that it will be one rank below a brigadier.

In English, Navy and Air Force have their own ranks, Many other languages use the same names as for their Army.

  2. Wikipedia.org has a lot of great info on these subjects. I would recommend you try that. Just type in the country you want to know about followed by army, navy, af, etc.

P.S. - I have yet to find any of these ranks wrong...I currently am US Air Force and I work with the British, Germans, Canadians, Italians, and Japanese on our base. Every single one of these is correct on there.

  3. go to the website below...once your there look for the search box top left of page and type "iraqi rank" "russian rank" "british rank" so on so forth...hope this helps...

  4. army.gov

  5. i dont reccomend wikipedia bcuz ppl edit in there but army ranks are like 1st calvary ,spc (specialist), sgt(sargeant), lieutenant, commander etc
