  1. Global warming and such is all a load of balls.... there just trying to please all the other big countries through that, its pointless! Large industrial countries like china who [if there really is an issue] contribute much more the  affect of the earths climate should look at their measures. Though some one has to be first, and even that 2% could make a difference some could argue....

  2. It is a scam just look at those that are making money From it.

  3. I think Australia's step is best. Yes it's not gonna help much now but in future other country's will also will follow the step of Australia. It will be help much not only to one country but to the world.

  4. Reducing ANY amount of green house gas is a benefit, no matter how small.

And it not only may but it WILL send a message to other countries.  Just as Earth Hour started in Australia and was turned into a world-wide event this year, a small thing like reducing harmful gasses will open up others' eyes.

  5. In the simulation,

being first to develop green technologies means you can sell them to other countries.  You may also get low-interest loans / grants.

  6. If every country thinks that way, no one will  do anything and nothing will be accomplished.  Every country needs to take action.  If a few key countries take steps, it will motivate others to follow.

  7. Well exactly, it will send a message that will say "We are not part of the problem, we are part of the solution, and you better be too".  Australia's economy has been hit pretty hard by the combination of Global Warming and high oil prices, as have many grain exporting countries.  China and the USA are playing their own games, to the detriment of everyone.  Most of the uncertainty in the futures markets results from these two.  The uncertainty is where the high prices come from.  The trick is to find ways to use your small piece of this as a bargaining chip politically.  Look at your trade agreements, tariffs and so forth, and see what you might be able to trade for a matching reduction by the major polluters.  Make that a condition of buying or selling something they want from you.  China and the US are not above playing those cards on a regular basis.  Australia should not feel it is beneath them to do the same.
