  1. This is an ABSOLUTELY BASIC ACCURATE  answer

    BASIC---adjective of 'base' meaning 'foundation', 'bottom'

    SCIENCE---comes from latin 'SCIO'  = I know, therefore

                          science = knowledge

    there are only 2 BASIC SCIENCES

    PHYSICS = things, matter

    MATHEMATICS = relationships between counting and           concepts

    ALL other sciences are built upon these 2

  2. The basic sciences are considered to be chemistry, biology, and physics.  The other sciences are subsets of these three.

  3. yes they are basic

  4. I would not consider either of them to be basic sciences since they are combinations of the various sciences such as Chemistry, Physics, Botony, Zoology, etc.

  5. If you are talking about basic sciences as to what universities will accept, then agriculture and horticulture would be considered basic science courses. Literally basic science is defined as:

    BASIC SCIENCE

    Scientific research that deals with general principles often fundamental principles rather than practical application . Of or relating to essential structure, function, or facts.

    PURE SCIENCE

    Scientific research to explore an interesting fact of nature often done solely for the exploration, the elegance, or the beauty of the discovery. Research not directed toward the exposition of reality or solution of practical problems.

    APPLIED SCIENCE

    Scientific research put to practical use, such as the technology of lasers being applied to the making of CD's, fax machines and xerox machines.
