What are California's home schooling requirements?

I'm really interested in home schooling my kids. What do I have to do to do that? (btw, right now my oldest is 2 so I have time to take required courses and such)

You do NOT have to be a certified teacher!!!

Option 1: You qualify as a private school meeting some minimal requirements. And you do not have to be a certified teacher to teach in private schools in California.

Option 2: You hire a private tutor.

Option 3: The child is registered in an independent study program offered through the school.

Option 4: You enroll the kids in a satellite program.

A California homeschooling support group would be your best source of information on all of this. Check Yahoo Groups.

I dont know whats going on in California right now... For a minute I know it was illegal. Then the homeschool civil defense got involved. I dont know whats going on right now there. I would go to the homeschool civil defense website see what they have to say about it.

Under California law, you have to be a fully certified teacher.
