  1. Care routines are the events that happen regularly throughout the day. They support the development of children in many ways. A good care routine will have blocks of uninterrupted time for children to develop their play. This is really important for 0-3 years olds, as they are exploring their environment. A good care routine will also provide alot of time for interactions between carers and children, this is especially important, as a strong attachment is vital in a child's first years of development. Hope that helps :)

  2. Try looking up Birth To Three on www.surestart.gov.uk as it will give you loads of ideas and ways to support childrens development and the care routines!

  3. The main care routine  is to make sure that you have someone that is qualified to look after your child, or do it yourself. Not someone that needs to find the answers for their nvq on yahoo.

Yes I do have and NVQ 4 in child care.

  4. 0-3 is a pretty wide spectrum in terms of developmental stages, different ages have different needs.  The best way to support development is to use everyday activity as an opportunity to teach and enables them to explore their world:

    .

    1)  For infants (0-12mos): outside stroller walks, rocking, sing to them, play music on the radio, bright toys, toys that move and make noise, hanging toys they can see and hear.  All of these activites allow them to interact and explore their environments, learn to control movements/functions, stimulate congnitive development.

    2)  For 12-24 months, push toys are good to help them learn to walk. Reading toddler's books aloud and showing the colorful pictures is a good for language development, playing outside and water play, let them walk, run, jump, and paractice climbing stairs (supervised of course), any opportunity to explore their environment is a good learning tool.  And they love bubbles!

    3)  2-3 year olds enjoy much of the same activities as 12-24mos, but they are more advanced in their mobility, language, etc.  Finger painting is fun and great for creative exploration.  Older toddlers begin pretend play during this stage, so playing dress-up, house, etc are good for their imaginations as well and allows them to engage in role-playing, imitating others.  Drawing (scribbling) with crayons and markers helps with their motor skills and control of movements.  They love to dance and sing songs.  Interactive childrens music is educational and fun.

  5. Care routines involve routines for general personal care. These may involve toileting(nappy/diaper changing), meal time dressing etc.

They benefit the development as they facilitate trust in the caregiver from the child's perspective. (Piaget)

They may also increase motor development, language development and social/emotional development.
