What are Fairway woods for?

i am a begginner at golf and i want to know where would i use my woods

to hit out of the fairway

This may not be the case yet as you are a beginner, but eventually you will be able to hit the fairway woods a longer distance than your longest iron.  They are used for long shots to the green, or to get as close to the green as possible on par five holes.  They are also used off the tee on long par 3 holes, or on par four holes where a driver may go too far.

on long fairway shots and on really long par threes. practice a lot with them or else you will top it out on the fairway
