  1. GHOST

As popularly used, this term denotes only the apparition of a deceased person, and is not sufficiently precise for use in psychical research. [Ashby, 1972]

What a ghost may consist of (or the explanation for the appearance) can only be answered in part after determining the type.

There are numerous classification systems for ghosts depending on the author. So your question is almost like asking how many types of women are there.

  2. Ghost is a layman's terminology for spirits.

The type of spirits that are most commonly talked about here, ie; haunting's, are people who have lived and passed over to the next realm.

Angels are also spiritual beings. Angels were never born in to the physical world as we were.

Demons are also former Angels, who rebelled when told they had to worship us. They felt, that they were created first, so we should worship them.

Then there are other beings, how many & what they are, I can not answer that. I do not believe anyone can, in fact, I wouldn't believe anyone who claim they know.

  3. There is as many types of ghost as there is people.....the good, bad and ugly......and the Holy Ghost.....they call the Holy Spirit the Holy Ghost because like ghost, it's always on the earth.

Ghost are basically spirits that haven't transcended for one reason or another, one thing most have in common is they don't realize that they are dead until they transcend to the other side.

  4. aint no such thing

  6. Well, originally there was just one kind of ghost.  Then, when someone experienced something they just *knew* was a ghost but it didn't fit the description, there were two kinds of ghosts.  Somebody else saw something they were just sure was a ghost, but it didn't follow the description of the other two, so there were three kinds of ghosts.   And so on...

You have spirits, spirit guides, demons, angels and a whole litany of various other entities just in our culture alone.  Then there are those which are described in other cultures too?    Those must be real too, right?

Which is easier to believe, that there are hundreds (thousands) of different variations of spirit-like entities, or that they are all part of mythology and subjective experience?

  7. I wasn't able to find a Peterson's Field Guide to ghosts, so it's probably a work in progress. The phenomena exists, but to classify and define it is a bit like catching smoke, I'd say. Good luck finding answers!

3 types, past, present and future.

Mostly from the past. Ghost's have different ways of reaching the living such as leviatating objects, flashy lights, footsteps and so.

They're not proven real nor fake.

  9. Ah, there's the beauty of it - since they're only imaginary, you can make up as many types as you like!

    .

  10. There are ghosts from the past, ghosts in the present, and ghosts in the future - three types altogether.

  11. They're generally things people can't think up natural explanations for, so they assume they need supernatural ones to account for them.  Others are complete figments of the imagination.

  12. One ghost, two ghost, Red ghost, Blue ghost. Black ghost, Blue ghost, Old ghost, New ghost.

This one has a little star. This one has a little car. Say! What a lot of ghosts there are.

Yes. Some are red. And some are blue. Some are old. And some are new. Some are sad. And some are glad. And some are very, very bad. Why are they sad and glad and bad? I do not know. Go ask your dad.
