can you give me an easy explanation of what latitude lines are?

  1. Latitude lines are the X axis of the earths terrestrial co-ordinates, they go around the earth parralel to the equator, at equal distances apart, up and down the earth like this:

    In a more circular pattern but thats the basics.

    They measure in degrees, 0degrees at the equator and increasing to the poles.

    London is at approximately 50 degrees lat.
