What are Mafia Wars on Myspace?

I keep on getting requests from people to join there mafia on myspace. Like whats the purpose of the game, how do you play it, etc. I have no clue what it is so any answers explaining it will help.

I joined one and I had no idea what to do so i never went on it agian lol i have no idea how to play it.

Myspace has added a lot of games.  Mafia Wars is played as if you have a mafia.  You can beat up other people, do jobs such as illegal gaming or distilling liquor.  The more mafia members you have the more jobs you can do.  It has point levels and each time you move to a higher level you can upgrade your abilities.  It's actually quite addicting, but it may be hard to find as many mafia members as you need.  There are forums where people are looking for more people to join their mafias.  A member of your mafia has to be added to your myspace friend list.  Hope that helps.
