DON'T SAY 100% RECYCLED AWESOME. Because I already know that.

I want to know what material they are constructed of so I know what kind of paint I can use on them if I buy a blank Mighty Mugg.

  1. Hey Kevin, good question. The answer to your first question is that Mighty Muggs are made out of a type of plastic, specifically vinyl. They are hard to the touch and have a matte-like finish, which makes them perfect for painting on.

That leads me to the answer of your second question.  I think the best way to paint a blank Mighty Mugg would be with Elmer's Painter's Pens. They are slightly larger than a Sharpie and are fully acrylic paint. That means that they are almost fully permanent, and are non-toxic unlike some other or off brand fabric markers. Don't buy off brand markers, such as "Deco-Color".  They require a base coat or an acrylic layer underneath.

I was actually planning to do the same thing with a blank Mighty Mugg. An alternate plan to buying a blank Mighty Mugg and paying more for it, would be to buy a white paint pen and paint over the factory printed character. They last a fairly long time and come in different sized tips.

    Price Range:  $3-$5.

    Best Place to Purchase:  Wal-Mart.

Other Places to Purchase*:  Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or a specialty craft store.

*They are usually more expensive there.
