People have been saying Palin has more accomplishments than Obama, despite only been in elected office for 9 years, compared to the ~16 Obama has.

Please, list their accomplishments. I will be directly talking back by adding details.

  1. Palin has far more leadership experience than does Obama as both mayor of Wasilla and governor of Alaska.

"As the gov for the last year and a half of the least populous state in the country."

The largest state by land area with vast amounts of resources, it is one of our most important states.

"You need to look at the type of elected office, not just the years."

Exactly. Obama has no executive experience. So when you compare Obama and Palin by both number of years served and quality of experience, they really have roughly the same amount of experience.

  2. You don't have to dig too deep to find out that Palin has more executive experience and executive accomplishments than B.O.

She has been governor of a state for almost two years, and before that she was a mayor.  Both EXECUTIVE political positions...more than just a "community organizer".

While B.O. has NEVER held any executive leadership position (unless you count head of the Harvard Law newpaper).

  3. Hmm...seems that the selection of Gov. Palin is such a surprise that people are still researching what she's actually done for her state and people. From the little I've discovered so far, she appears to be the type that stays busy, works hard and "gets things done"....which is to say that she isn't one to vote "present" on bills 99% of the time given the opportunity. I recommend waiting a few days, then seeing what comes up.

  4. Palin has heldappointed and elective office since 1992 - 16 years. And those are full time offices.

The Illinois State Senate only meets for part of the year and Obama only served 8 years there before he ran for the US Senate.

Palin has more service than he does.

Moreover, her service as Mayor, State Ethics Commissioner and Chairman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and Governor are executive experience.

Obama has no executive experience other than a stint as head of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge where he worked with Bill Ayers for 5 years to distribute $110 million to eduction groups.  The report they filed showed no positive results from the project.

At the Oil and Gas Commission, Palin took on Big Oil and got money back for the citizens of Alaska.

When has Obama gotten money back for us?

She stopped a no-bid pipeline contract and opened it up for bids.  The new pipeline is being built for less money to move oli to the Lower 48, helping toward the goal of energy independence.

What has Obama done except talk and vote No, No, No.

She took on graft and corruption and got the crooks fired - including members of her own party.

Obama co-sponsored legislation on ethics that applied to members of Congress.

Do you think that politicians are more honest because of Obama's legislation?

    Palin really did something.

And told Congress they could keep their money for the Bridge to Nowhere.

She means it when she says NO.

As Governor, Palin is Commander of the Alaska National Guard.

She regularly uses them for State project and coordinates their training and drills.

The Alaska National Guard was deployed to Iraq and Palin visited her own troops there - long before Obama ever visited Iraq.

On her way home she stopped at Landstuhl military hospital to visit wounded troops.  Unlike Obama.

Obama has no such military experience.

BTW, Biden made an error in his prepared speech to the convention - confusing "brigade" and "battalion" strength.  So much for experience by the Democrats.

Palin oversees a State budget of almost $7 billion, more than many countries.

She cut more than 300 line item expenditures in her first year in office saving 100s of millions in taxpayer funds.

She has been able to give tax rebates to Alaskans - giving them their own money back.

Palin is eliminating some energy taxes next year to give Alaskans a break.

Obama opposed rolling back federal energy taxes and proposed increases in taxes on energy companies which will be passed on to consumers.

In summary, the combination of Palin's elective and appointed offices far exceeds the experience of Sen. Obama and her record of hands-on executive experience makes his pale in comparison.

The buck stops at her desk and she takes responsibility.

Why is anyone questioning Palin's experience and achievements when these questions were NEVER asked about Obama?

Her record only serves to further illuminate his inexperience and lack of qualifications for the presidency.

  5. What? 16- 9?

Obama has been in the state senate 1997-2004 and the U.S. Senate since 2004. So he has 11. Well, actually 10 if you take out 2008 since he's been campaigning.

Palin was mayor from 1996-2002 and Governor since 2006. So she has 10.

I'm an Obama supporter, and I'm willing to admit that he has very little experience and so does she.

  6. she has none, that's just people excuse when they don't want to face the truth and are in as much denial as McCain

  7. I'm tired of people saying she has more experience.

As the gov for the last year and a half of the least populous state in the country.

You need to look at the type of elected office, not just the years.

Obama has been in Washington for several years. He was working and helping the people of Illinois while she was organizing bake sales for the local PTA.

He represents a state that has 13 million people, while the entire state of Alaska has a population of 700,000.

Not to mention he's got a law degree from Harvard (including head of the Harvard Law Review). I believe she does have an undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Idaho.

He's been in Washington working on national issues while Palin was working on getting her brother in law fired.

Look how well a former governor (with no experience in Washington) has worked out over the last 8 years.
