What are Power animals are they the same as animal guides?

i am native american and i am trying to find my animal guides ive heard all kinds of things some people say meditate on it some say create an oracale and choose 9 with your left hand but it is 9 right for all the directions, south, north, west, east, left, right, up, down, inside i know my directions so i guess t his part is true but is power animals just another term or is it diffrent than your 9 animal guides?

In my tradition, we have a part of the soul called the flygia.  The fetch.  Very similar in concept to the Native American spirit guides.  For us though, its ... an affinity towards one animal.  you understand that animal better, you can relate to it.

As my name suggests, I like wolves.  The sound a howling wolf is sheer music to me, the sight of a wolf running wild and free, fierce and loyal and proud, that, to me, is a more inspiring sight than anything else.  Except maybe a really wicked thunderstorm =)

They're basically the same thing, from what I understand. There's different ways to find your guide--just find the way that's right for you. I meditated on it and found Jaguar.

I am not indian, I am LDS. and i think it come from inside you.  You have to list you character, attributes, preferences, attitude, thought and the animal type will surface.  I believe that they use to wait to name you until your personality came out and then the tribe would choose it for you and give you the sacred name.

i believe that animal guides come to you and guide you, and that they come and go throughout your life whenever you may need a certain one.

and power animals are ones you pick yourself.
