Question:

What are QLD selectors thinking, no Prince?

What the h**l..

Seriously, First they leave Prince out of the Australian team when he is clearly the best player in the comp. at the moment. Ok, Thurston is a superstar and they had to pick him.. but then they bring in Crocker and Cronk before him.

THEN

Qld dont pick him at all.. not even a bench spot. They pick Hunt at 5/8.. what is going on?

there cant be anyone out there that thinks this is the right choice, Thurston would of played just as good at 5/8

I dont even go for Qld, or Gold Coast but i just can not believe he did not make it, First the Australian selection was the worst ever, now this how topped it by far.

Whats does everyone else think?

  1. the 1,6 and 7 was either

    slater, hunt and thurston

    or

    hunt, thurston and prince

    take your pick.

I think they made the right choice, id rather have billy in the team than prince simply because hunt can play 5/8 easily (played it all his life before coming to the broncos because of lockyer)

  2. Who would you pick to drop Slater or Prince? I would drop Slater and bring Prince in, just cause Hunt will have to move back to fullback for the 2nd game to make space for Lockyer. He will have re-adapt to his old postion. Why not just leave him there and bring in a player who can come straight into Lockyer's spot and get dropped when he returns without changing any starter's role's in the team.

Hunt was always going to play somewhere in the team, I would of picked him at fullback. He's the incumbent and has done anything to demand him to lose a spot, redardless of what Slater has done this season.

  3. I completely agree with you. I would understand if they picked a specialist five-eighth who isn't as skilled as Prince just because they were a specialist five-eighth and Prince is a halfback, but Hunt is further out-of-position than Prince would be.

I think the selectors just have something personal against Scott Prince. If only selectors were neutral.

  4. Jonathon Thurston was definitely at advangtage, having won the Dally M last year. People expect things like that from him this year as well.

But I do agree, Prince is definitely at a good spot in his career in the moment and would've been a hot addition to the Queensland team. He and Thurston would've made a good pair.

But why am I complaining- I don't even go for the Maroons.

    GO THE BLUES! ;)

  5. Same can be asked about the selection of the Aussie cricket team - 1st that Hussey can't make the test squad and then when Clarke requires some personal leave that bring in Hodge.

Both Hussey and Prince should be representing their country in their chosen sports and sucks that they aren't. Sucks more for Prince that he can't get into the QLD side, he should be there, just shows the selectors are idiots.

  6. bad luck but prince just didnt fit into the game plan slater, hunt and thurston provide more variety and allows thurston to run the show without sharing with prince.

  7. im a huge fan of prince and was also shocked. i think that the selectors for qld went without him cause he wouldnt work with thurston, that they're both too dominant to share a team. but i think playing with split halves rather than the traditional 5/8 outside of half may have solved the problem

anyway doesnt matter... go the blues

  8. I am an objective origin fan. How could QLD not select prince.

He is more structured and should play halfback.

Thurston is probably best player in the world and is probably more suited to 5/8th with his flair and that element of unpredicability and even when you know what he is going to do you still can't stop him.

Hunt is a very good player, but I don't agree with the whole incument thing which is always thrown around. It works for australia because League is an Australian sport and they have no decent competition.

QLD back line is so good you could pick 6 out of 10 players for the 1-6 jumpers and still win. But slater is capable of things only great players can produce and is probably the form player along with Prince in the comp. Remeber his chip kick and capture try a couple of years ago. Plus everyone wants to watch a plyer with a smile on his face.

Will Lockyer get back into this team ?

  9. totally agree with you, a travesty. I was shocked when i heard they were bringing in cronk to the test side, happy it never happened, didnt deserve it. Feel for ya princy

  10. hunt is an awesome player, and i am sure he can play 5/8, but at origin level and compaired to thurston and prince... I think thurston and prince would have it over him in the halves... Hunt should be sitting on the wing and working his backside off in rotation with slater to show which one of them deserves to make the fullbacks jersey their own. If loycker was there hunt would be on the wing or fullback but most importantly i don't think there is anyway they would not have picked slater, and this should have been the case with prince's form also. Politics, someone in the camp and/or selection has it in for him, all the guy can do is show them how short sighted they have been

  11. Hunt hasn't even played at 5/8 for the Broncos. So why the h**l would the selectors place him there for Origin? I WAS looking forward to the match, but now I think I'll have a few beers with Scott Prince and watch Big Brother... Qld Selectors are idiots!

  12. they just want an exuse for when they lose

    GO THE BLUES

  13. prince did played for maroons before as a halfback but they lost the series to the blues.i think he will never  wear a maroons jersey anymore, let alone an aussies jumper.

  14. yea thats g*y as i would have prince at 5/8th, Tate off the team and Hunt, Inglis and slater rotating fullbacks and wings

that would be a dominating team

Cronk isnt on the team by the way

  15. slater, hunt and thurston sounds better
