  1. By the sounds of your question ie "What are"  you could be referring to Rakau....which translated means tree.  It also means timber/wood.  The game referred above is called ti rakau, which means stick game


  2. lol maybe we dont have that in my part of NZ, to the first answer, i remember the stick game!!! we used to use newspapers all rolled up for it ahahha havnt though of that in years.

  3. I think you might mean Rakau? It is a Maori Stick Game where you sit opposite someone else and you sing and pass/throw these sticks to each other - we used to do it at school. If that isn't what you mean then I'm not sure, sorry!
