The chakras are actually kundalini chakras. Reiki works on the chakras as well as the meridians used in accupuncture.

In the kundalini system there are 7 main chakras that begin at the base of the spine and end at the top of the head. The chakras are thought of as energy vorteces of the body and are often described as discs or funnels of spinning colored light.

Each chakra is associated with a color and with particular issues and organ systems. It is believed that if a particular chakra is blocked that you will develop life issues or health issues that are associated with that chakra and that using Reiki can help unblock the chakra ans restore the flow of energy thus helping the body and life to be restored to balance.

The first chakra, also known as the root is at the base of the spine and is associated with the color red and with the most primal and archtypal issues. It is associated with the urogenital system and the lower intestines.

The second chakra is called the sacral chakra and is near the navel. It is associated with the color orange and with the digestive and reproductive organs as well as lower back. It is often associated with issues of creativity, s*x, money and power.

The third chakra is the solar plexis and is associated with the color yellow. It is a gateway between the physical and spiritual realms. It is connected with the personal identity, with the liver and pancreas.

The fourth chakra is also called the heart chakra it is associated with the color green, the cardiopulmonary system and issues of love and relationship.

The fifth chakra is the throat chakra it is blue and associated with the throat, thyroid, voice, communication and expression.

The sixth chakra is the third eye it is indigo and associated with the head, eyes, sinuses, mental clarity, vision, intuition.

The seventh chakra is the crown it is violet and associated with the brain and pineal gland. It is connected with matters of spirituality and global thinking.
