  1. I can tell you that Jordan's is NOT the best.  I have been there twice and both times my meal was messed up and the fish wasn't great tasting.

Doyles at Watson's Bay is overpriced, but good food.

  2. Sydney Rowing Club has great seafood platters and fantastic views.   You can just chill out and have a drink there too sometimes.  There is a free discount voucher in www.whypayfullprice.  Some vouchers on there are buy a meal & get one free on the site, but I can't remember what Sydney Rowing Club was offering.

  3. There are a number of well-established seafood restaurants in Sydney: Doyle's (Watson's Bay, Circular Quay and Sydney Fishmarket), Jordon (Darling Harbour) and Nick's Seafood (Cockle Bay Wharf).

I wouldn't probably suggest Jordon as the quality of their food and service have been on the decline for a while.  Nick's a good seafood place, the restaurant is right on the water in the Cockle Bay Wharf, which is adjacent to the Darling Harbour... so there are a whole lot going on around there and it's good for people-watching especially on weekends.  The Watson Bay location of Doyle's is my favourite as it is out of the way and the view from the restaurant is just amazing - it is about 20 minutes drive East from Sydney city and you can see the harbour, the CBD skyline and the opera house.

Another place that you may consider visiting is Fish At The Rocks.... the restaurant is small and unpretentious, however the seafood there has got to be one of the freshest seafood I've ever tasted in a restaurant.

For a cheap and cheerful alternative, try the Sydney Fishmarket.  Get there early on Sunday or Saturday, buy the seafood and have it cooked in front of you, and then sit at one of the little tables outside.  Better do it quick before winter kicks in!

For Chinese seafood, try Golden Century on Sussex Street in Chinatown.  Beware of the queue on Friday and Saturday night.
