  1. I find tabs easy to read!

    --------------- E (1st string)

    ----2--------- B

    -------------- G

    --------------- D

    --------------- A

    --------------- E (6th String)

The numbers are the frets! (e.g. 2nd string 2nd fret) When theres and 0 it means you play the open string.

  2. Tabs are a lot easier to read than sheet music and offer far greater and easy to understand articulation for electric guitar.

When I was starting out on guitar and in college - when they first came out (about 1990) and when I had my meeting with my music professors..they asked which way I was going (at the end of the music course)  said I had discovered tab and am going to learn a h**l of a lot of songs using this.

They actually thought I meant acid and looked absolutely appalled.

    lol..

You should train your ear and  learn to read music to though. Tab is not a substitute for a proper music education..and you won't get any professional jobs because you can read tab

  3. tabs are fairly easy to read if you look there are 6 lines, the top line is your bottom e string as you look at your guitar, the second is your b string, third your g, fourth your d, fifth a, sixth top e, an o on a string means strike the string open, numbers on the tab normally denote which frets your fingers should be on to make the chord shape give it a go i use tabs all the time they are great oncw you get the hang of it. try this website out for tabs of your favourite songs its pretty good

  4. tabs are guitar tabs they mean like the single notes/strings instead of chords theyre quite easy too read but depends which way it is set out. :o)

  5. They tell you what to play and when. I have a 7 year old daughter who reads both drum and guitar tabs, no problems. I guess once you have had it explained to you they are simple enough.

    Good Luck!

  6. yeah they tell u what string and fret to play
