My family will be visiting Boston this weekend and are interested in some good Boston seafood, particularly the fabled lobstah and chowdah! :)

Any suggestions on the best places?

  1. top of the hub

  2. Boston has great seafood throughout the city, some of my favorites are...

Abe & Louie's Steakhouse - Yes it's a steakhouse, but the seafood is amazing, very pricey, but the shellfish tower alone is totally worth it!  The lobster is to die for, chowder is simmered to perfection, not to mention the steak is the best in the city and they have one of the largest wine selections. Lastly, it has outdoor seating, great for people watching on Boylston...

Summer Shack - Very reasonably priced and a laid back, kid friendly atmosphere.  The calamari is the best I've ever tasted, they are really small and delicate, not big rubbery things.  I had the salmon last time and it was rare and perfect.  This is also a great place for raw bar selection, really good oysters.  King's bowling alley is right next door, they have tons of lanes and pool tables, arcade gams etc.

Youell's Oyster House - It's been running since 1925, it tends to attract all the tourists, but still a great place, located in Faneuil Hall.  The lazyman lobster is all the taste and no work.  Famous for the chowder and it's pretty reasonably priced, another great family destination.

I hope this helps, I've lived in Boston for 5 years and enjoy eating out far too much.  There are so many other great places as well, just don't fall for the tourist trap! AKA "Legal Seafoods", overpriced and nothing ot write home about.

    Enjoy your trip!!

  3. "No name restaurant" in the fish district.  Locals eat there so you know it's awesome.  It's not fancy, but it's great food and very reasonable.  You don't get a more fresh meal anywhere else.  Definitely worth working into your schedule.  If you ride the trolley, the driver would know.  There's a stop for it  :-)  Have fun!
