What are a global warming skeptic's arguments ?

I've been wondering this, why would they doubt this even with so much evidence for Global Warming. What are the arguments made by these skeptics ? Are there any particular notable main ones ? I'm doing this for a research project.

  1. I can give you the reasons I don't buy into the popular "chicken little" theories..

    1) The central idea of the "Al Gore Environmentalists" is that CO2 causes warming, but the data shows that temperature increase happens BEFORE CO2 increase.  When the central idea of the theory is a lie, you have to have doubts about the theory as a whole.

    2) Other planets in our solar system are also experiencing warming patterns which are very similar to our own.  The common factor between these planets is the sun.. which also happens to be our ( and their ) largest source of energy.

    3) The current warming cycle started BEFORE humanity industrialized.  And the planet has undergone far more drastic climate shifts in the past, and certainly didn't need any human assistance to make it happen.

    4) The entire theory is based on worst case scenarios loosely based on the highest possible projections loosely based on a TINY bit of incomplete data.  The amount of data available is laughable.

    5) There is a complete lack of objective science involved.  This is a political / commercial agenda, not a scientific one.

    6) A few decades ago these same people were telling us we were going into an ice age and we were all going to die.  They've got a credibility problem.

  2. There is a difference whethe r you are talking about global warming as a result of natural changes (much as the ice age was a natural event) vs. man-made global warming.  For one perspective on why we should be skeptical on the role of mankind in producing global warming you can look at this short article:  http://www.associatedcontent.com/article...

  3. They don't have any good ones.  Many say the Sun is causing global warming, but we know this isn't true because solar output has remained unchanged on average over the past 30 years as the planet has warmed 0.5 deg Celsius.  Some say it's a "natural cycle", which we also know is wrong because we're in a stable and long-term cooling portion of the Earth's orbital (Milankovitch) cycles.

How_Would_I_Know provides some even worse arguments.

    1) CO2 doesn't cause warming?  Right.  The planet would be 33 degrees Celsius colder if not for the greenhouse effect, and you're arguing that greenhouse gases can't cause warming?  Seriously?

    2) Simply wrong.  A few planets are warming, a few are cooling, and most planets and moons are experiencing no significant temperature change.  None are experiencing "warming patterns which are very similar to our own" as far as we know.

    3) First part is wrong.  The warming started 100 years ago, after industrialization.

Second part is irrelevant.  Just because the climate has changed before doesn't mean we're not causing it to change now.

    4) Wrong.  Baseless argument with no supporting evidence.

    5) Wrong.  To argue that hundreds of thousands of scientists are all perpetrating a massive political hoax is just stupid.

    6) Wrong.  A few decades ago scientists were warning of warming.

To be blunt, virtually all global warming skeptics' arguments are based on misinformation, ignorance, and denial.

  4. The main premise of the skeptic is that there has been no evidence or proof of any kind that ties humans to climate change or global warming or whatever they call it now.

You don't need arguments to disprove something that's never been successfully proven.

  5. i think their main arguments is that global cooling is happening instead of global warming. they were saying that temperatures were cooling and ice gets thicker and thicker. i think that is one of their arguments but i don't believe them because i believe global warming is indeed happening.

  6. The evidence supports the skeptics, not the alarmists. I don't buy this global warming scam because I'm not retarded. Global Warming proponents rely on alarmism and propaganda instead of facts, which tells me they are full of c**p.
