What are a good group of bars (close to one another) to go to in Boston/Cambridge?

Its my 21st birthday next Tuesday and I want to go out to bars but don't want to travel far in between them.

I've been to Faneuil Hall bars, and the Boylston bars and I'm not that impressed with them. I want something fun/unique that doesn't involve being packed in like sardines, screaming to one another over the obnoxious euro-techno music. Help!!

  1. Brighton Ave is where a lot of the BU college bars are...dollar draft nights etc.  Also, Boylston/Newbury area you can find some more upscale restaurants and lounges....depends how much you like to spend when you go out!  Also, there are a few cool bars down on the waterfront/north end.

  2. Landsdowne Street!

  3. Check out Davis Square!  You will find a diverse collection of bars- many of which are not super packed or expensive. Copley is a very exciting area but tends to be over-crowded and over priced.

    In Davis you will find:

    The Burren

The Diva Lounge (also a hooka bar!)

    Joshua Tree

    Sligo Pub

Thats just to name a few. Many of these have open air seating which always provides great atmosphere!

  4. copley square has what you're looking for.

    Stephanie's On Newbury

    Joe's American Bar & Grill

    City-Bar

    Grill 23 & Bar

    Globe Bar & Grill

    Rattlesnake Bar & Grill

    Stix Restaurant & Lounge

    33 Restaurant & Lounge

    Palm Restaurant

    Vlora Restaurant

    Oak Room

    Turner Fisheries of Boston

    and  after, head out to

    Champions Sports Bar.

these are all right next to each other and great atmosphere.

    happy 21st Birthday!

  5. I agree with the above poster. The Harp is good, and also around North Station there are tons of other places you can walk to, if you get sick of it there. The Greatest Bar, Hurrican O'Rielly's, etc are all just a few minute walk. . . .However, if you're there on the weekend it's going to be loud, and crowded, but that's big city bar scene for you. . ..

I see someone else posted to check out Davis Square (The Burren, Johnny D's, The Joshua Treet, etc.) and that might be a better idea as it will be slightly less crowded and noisy, but still fun. If you go there, definitely check out Sagra, it's a bar, but they also have a dining area where they serve YUMMY food, so you could get there early and eat something, and then move on. Plus, if you are in Davis, you are close to Porter Square which has the Porter Square Tavern, Christophers and Spirit which are all also great bars.

  6. Go to the Harp! It's always a great time. Perfect for a 21st birthday. It's a good size, 2 floors. I recommend just going for a drink on Tuesday then going to a bar on Saturday to really celebrate and go crazy. The Harp also has live cover bands on Saturday which are great and a DJ downstairs. There are other bars around there if you decide to leave, such as Hurricane O'Reillys, etc.

  7. Check out Inman Square which is in Cambridge adjacent to Somerville.
