I'm focusing more so of the non-academic aspect of the application. I know that they are looking for work experience, volunteer experience, academic awards, and non academic awards but I have no idea how much they want of each and what kind. Or even what would be considered a strong application. If someone who is already accepted into optometry help me out I'll be truly grateful!

  1. I think being involved in as many things as possible, optometry related or not, would look good on an application.  Volunteer work is great.  If your school has an optometry club, join.  If not, make one and be the president.  Shadow several different optometrists (not for pay) for about 40 hours.  They want to know you have a life and are an interesting person outside of school, too.  If you feel like you are involved in your school and community, you should be fine.  Other than that, strong GPA and test scores make the application a winner.
