What are acai berries?

I was drinking vitamin water and it was made of ACAI blueberry and pomegranate.So wat is acai?

The Acai berry is a rather recent discovery. It is very high in vitamin C content and has some other benefits too. Compared to other berries it has a higher concentration of nutrients and health benefits but unlike what some people will have you believe it is not a super food or a cure all. We still need more nutrients than this single berry can provide.

It grows in South America and is actually very bitter in taste. It has to be dilluted with plenty of water and other juices to make it taste halfway decent. By doing this though the concentrated health benefits are lowered though. Some people, like those mentioned above add little water and a few other juices to ones they make and they drink it in a quick shot. They have too becasue it tastes so nasty on its own.

Like the others have mentioned, the acai berry grows on palm trees in the Amazon.  It is one of the most nutrient dense fruits in the world and has the highest level of antioxidants of any fruit found on Earth.  What they failed to tell you is that, like all fruits, once it is picked it immediately starts to lose it's nutritional value.  By the time it gets processed and brought to market it really is not  going to do much for your health.  This is the quality of acai you will find in all of the current products found in stores (whether from Sambazon or Tropicana).  There is only one company who processes the fruit within 48 hours of being picked and uses a patented freeze drying process to stabilize the acai berry's high level of antioxidants.  Many people put this company down because it is a network marketing company but their product is still superior!  You will find a ton more info on this site.

It's a type of blueberry, from Brazil.... even healthier than regular blueberries (more antioxidants), but quite pricey.  Hagen Daz makes a private reserve Acai Sorbet, if you want to try the flavor out:)

They are berries, about the size of grapes, from the acai palm tree. It is in the vitamin water because it is rich in antioxidants.
