  1. Face Puzzles...

you can have them cut out different parts of the face of different faces of people.  Then have a funny face collage as they glue together the different parts to come up with their own funny face (ex. hair of a politician, eyes of a model, nose of a celebrity, mouth of a clown...etc.)

You'd be surprised with the creativity they can come up with.  Afterwards, you can touch on the topic of feelings and ask how does their "new face" feels (happy, sad, etc.) or what could their new face possibly say? (ex. Hello! or I just finished eating...etc.)

  2. I just recently did a sillouette collage.  We stood in front of an overhead projector and had a classmate trace the outline of our head.  then we cut it out and pasted pictures tore from magazines to represent "who i am".  It went over well.

  3. Something  kinda Fun I do with my Little Cousins is  let them cut up my old magazines and then paste pictures  as narration for stories.. they could be  Stories, like Nursery Rhymes or just a story that they make up in thier heads...

or let them cut pictures out of what they want to be when they grow up...

or  do a word hunt....depending on  the General age of the kids.. throw together 10-20 words of different levels of difficulty and  see who can find the most of them  , have them Circle where they find the words used...

More of a challenge..... if you have several copies of the same Magazine... Find a  modoratly common word and see  who can  find all the  times it is printed... You may want to  use some guidleines... such as  not letting them use words printed in ads... or other Rules you might come up with .

  4. Cut out pictures of things they would like to do, places they would like to go, things they would like to eat, things they would like to do when they grow up, color groups (all yellow, all red, etc), cut out all the colors and make a rainbow, make up a sentence or paragraph with words cut out of the magazine. Tell a story using only pictures.  Cut out and paste a picture to the middle of a paper and then draw in details around the magazine cut out to make a whole scene.

  5. Well I know this Magazine it's called Highlights They got activities

    Glad I can help

  6. What I have done in the past with kids and magazines I have got them to cut out pictues of different things like:

    Families

    animals

Foods  (Good foods to eat)   the "5 A Day Power Play",which is the foods that are good for them and the different Fruits.

    The  four food Groups,Food Pyramid

What they would find in their house.

Have the children get paper plates and have them cut out pictures of foods that are good for them and glue them on the plate.

Have the children cut out pictures of foods and have them play store.

Have the children cut out pictures of animals and have them explain where you can find the animals.

    Zoo

    Jungle

    Home

    Woods

    Forests

I did this with the children in the place that I worked up North the children enjoyed it very much.

    I hope this will help.

  7. have them make collages(possibly for the front of their school binders?)
