  1. For large airplanes (except 787) the body skins are 2000 series (2024 or 2324) aluminum.  Boeing airplanes have a thin layer of pure aluminum on the sheet so the body can be polished; Airbus ones don't.

    2000 series alloys are aluminum/copper alloys used for their high fatigue and crack growth resistance.  The cladding also helps resist corrosion.

    7000 series alloys are used in machined parts and for the upper (compression) wing surfaces- they are aluminum zinc alloys and have higher static strength but reduced fatigue, damage tolerance, and corrosion resistance.

    787 fuselage is Toray toughened resin with intermediate modulus fiber, a hybrid of tape and fabric preimpregnated materials.

  2. Generally aluminum, because of its high srength and low weght.  However, composite materials are making a greater appearance in airplanes.  Boeing's new "Dreamliner" has many composite components.

  3. Most are made out of alluminum, but some are made out of carbon-fiber

  4. "Real airplanes are made of canvas."

  5. They are the types of metals, Such as :;

    Aluminium, Iron(?),

    aLsO, the Spaceship MAKERS USE THE "TITANIUM" to prevent the ship and it's crews from the gravity's force of fire...

    etc

  6. people

  7. usually aluminium

  8. the outside skins are made from "Aircraft Aluminum" and the insides structure use the same metal.  With much of the inside reinforcement done with Titanium.

  9. Primarily aluminum but many new aircraft (especially smaller, general aviation) are being made of composites like the Cirrus and the new(!) Cessna  (nee Columbia) 400.

    Older aircraft were made from wood frames covered in material stretched and tightened on the frames by a shellac compound known as "dope."

  10. Large airplanes are made chiefly of sheet aluminum, with some components made of composites (plastics) and in some special cases of metals like titanium and magnesium.

    Some small airplanes are made almost entirely of composites, and there are still airplanes flying that are made of wood, metal tubing, and fabric in various combinations.
