There are four kinds of leukemia.  All leukemias can be considered cancers of the blood and/or bone marrow.  The four types are:

1.  Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML)

2.  Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL)

3.  Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML)

4.  Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)

The acute leukemias produce blast cells and progress rapidly without treatment.  The chronic forms produce few or no blast cells and as a general rule progress much more slowly.
