What are all of the up's and down's about braces?

Question

Has anyone here gotten braces recently? Do they hurt? Tell me! LOL.

I'm getting braces put on tomorrow and im just curious as to all of the up's and down's of having them on. Tomorrow is Monday and school starts Thursday, will i know how to control drool and everythin by then? Im freaking out cuz i dont want them but my mom paid alot of money from me to get them soi want to make her happy. My teeth are bad at all, the bottom is slightly crowded and i have a really tiny overbite, and one of my teeth on the top came in crooked so really i only have to wear them for 18 months the ortho said...please give me tips on how to control drool and everything. i got mine last month.

at first they hurt and you can feel them pulling your teeth back and can't really bite into anything its still kinda hurts to bite into hard stuff & i try to avoid bittin into stuff anyway cus it somtimes get stuck in the front.

you might also feel like your top lip is stickin out but its not.

they will rub aswell but thats what the wax is for take it everywhere with you.

at first people am gonna be like 'omg you got braces' then they get use to it.

also its been a month and i forget my braces are there.

they are not bad at all.  I got mine a few months ago and I am 27 so be glad you are getting them young.  I didnt want braces when I was younger (and my mom couldnt afford them anyway) but as I got older I realized I really needed them!  The first week, just be sure you have your wax with you because if they rub any where in your mouth the wax will make it feel better.  I also have a little mirror in my purse that I can use to make sure stuff doesnt get stuck in them!! And dont worry, I never had a drool problem at all!!

you dont drool. some people talk weird. but 18 months is nothing.

downs..  (had braces for 3 years, got them off a couple of months ago)

they hurt extremly bad.

hard to brush and floss

food gets stuck in them

sometimes wires will poke or rub on the inside of ur cheek

when u get them tighen they hurt alot

then after u get them off u have to wear a retainer for a couple of years

and that all i can think of

ur teeth will be straight in a year and a half

i dont now anything about drooling cuz i never did

braces dont hurt while youre getting them on

but they do hurt after for a week week and a half.

you wont be eating crunchy or hard food for awhile.

also i didnt really have a problem with drool.

but it might feel weird for a day or two

braces arent bad.

the only trouble is eating for awhile

and when you get food in your teeth

the way i get food out of my teeth is drink water ans swoosh it.

also they should give you a pick that with get the food out
