Others have mentioned some of the more mundane benefits like low pay but ok retirement and good insurance while there.

What no one has mentioned is how much people will admire and repsect you and like you. Heck, just look through this whole section here and see how much people like the Police.

Simply put, good-looking babes like men in uniform, and they definitely like guys with badges and guns and the confident attitude that goes with it.  Case closed.

you will learn very quickly that a person does not go into law enforcement for the money or benefits.you do it as a career choice and because you love the work.example. i reached the top of my pay scale after 9 years. i never got another raise until i retired.that was 16 more years.

You have a job and a paycheck.  Often includes decent insurance and retirement benefits if you stick it out.
