  1. Because they use *bulk materials and typically manufacture *bulk products, the plants are located near transportation sites like harbors and railroads.  If you go to most industrial areas served by either you will find chemical processing plants.

    In addition there are all of the manufacturing and processing businesses that use potentially hazardous chemicals but are not chemical plants.

    *Shipped in tankers or bins and hoppers vs. individual packages.


  2. Drive north on the turnpike and take a breath. You'll find them. South Jersey has relatively few.
