  1. In addition to the above answers TSR made 3 big box games called Goblin's Lair, Dragon's Den, and Haunted Tower. They might have had a board to them. There was also a Dragonlance war -game with a board.


  2. There are only two that I know of. The older one I've played and was called DUNGEON! (see first source below) and the second was the D&D Adventure board game. They are definitely Board Games as opposed to Role Playing Games. I'm not sure if DUNGEON! is even still in print.

    D&D grew from a miniatures gaming system called Chainmail, see third link below. That's not really a board game, and more for hardcore war gamers but an interesting fact none-the-less.
