What are all the items i can send to a inmate in prison?

i have a inmate in the federal correction institute. I want to know what are all the things i can send him.

The best answer is to check the website for the facility your inmate is incarcerated in. It should give you a list of acceptable items that can be sent into them, and what is forbidden. Each institution is different due to the custody levels of the inmates incarcerated at that facility.

Generally money must be sent in in the form of a check or money order, and it is put into the inmates bank account. With that, they can purchase items that are on an approved list from the inmate store.

Anything else must be purchased through the prison.  You need to contact the prison to find out how to deposit money in their canteen account.

Any items from the outside, including something as simple as stamps and envelopes, can be laced with drugs, so they will be rejected.

Each prison has a CDC website. You would need to go there and look. Most prisons wont allow you to mail anything in. You have to submit money in their account and they can purchase the items they need from the "canteen" Which is their term for prison store. This is because everything there is approved by the CDC. Your chance of sending something in and it getting rejected is VERY high. Its easier to send in money unless they are getting released then there is a bigger gap in which they allow you to send things in for the day he/she is released but they never give them the items unless they are getting out...other places like some prisons take a VERY long time to deliver the items so don't sent perishables.

Your best bet is to contact the CDC and tell them the inmates name and location ie general pop etc and ask them what if anything they can have or be sent.Looking on a website is not always good because its not updated. They require specific brands, colors etc etc..

You'll want to check with the staff because if your package has just one item that is contraband, it will delay the whole package from reaching your friend.  They may just refuse it and send it back to you.  Just contact the prison or they may even have the rules on the web.
