  1. To break everything down and not getting technical, I would say:

    1. Mission/purpose

    2. Performance (related to 1. includes speed, range, altitude and things like that)

    3. Cost

    4. Size

    5. Efficiency (fuel)

    6. Maintenance

    7. Lifespan

    This may no be the order but I believe the purpose is the first one.

  2. * Cost

        * Crew

        * Length

        * Wingspan

        * Height

        * Wing area

        * Empty weigh

        * Loaded weight

        * Max takeoff weight

        * Powerplan

        * Secondary Powerplant

        * Lift fan

        * Maximum speed

        * Range

        * Combat radius

        * Rate of climb

        * Wing loading

        * Thrust/weight

        * Armament

    Hope this helps

  3. Sorry Dolly,

    its absolutely impossible to list all the requirements.  those provided here are just the tip of the iceberg.

    maintainability

    supportability (not the same thing as above)

    can it self start? can it do that in the air?

    What is its mission? Close air support too?

    Hover?

    ops from AC carrier?

    Does it need a Pilot or is it a UA?

    any one of the categories mentioned have so many sub-categories.

    what software version will the primary flight controls run?  How many redundant computer systems?

    What about the Maintenance Computer system?  What electronic interfaces will it have between computer systems?

    Will the maintenance computer have access to long range comm system for in flight diagnostics?

    Will it have an auto-launch, auto-land system?

    Ordinance and fire control systems

    EC Electronic Countermeasures on board?  how much?

    will there be a navigator/fire control officer? other crew member?

    how many engines?

    The computer systems are enormous and have interconnecting systems for redundancy and reliability.

    I only have about 20 years experience and only in fuel controls and control electronics......There are VAST areas of expertise that go into designing a Fighter.

  4. If you were a client then you would already have a list of Your requirements.With a list of tolerances and maximums and minimums. Armaments to be carried distance expected and many more simply standard things.
