What are all the significant milestones in the first year of a baby's life?

My son will be 4 months old tomorrow (Wow, how time flies!), and I'm wondering what all the significant milestones are that I should be keeping track of? I've started a baby book, and I take pictures EVERY day =)

I don't want to miss anything! And it's already going by so fast and he's getting so big!

I know there's the first teeth that they start to sprout, he got those around 3 months. Then there's first smile and all that good stuff. He will have his first halloween (which he'll be Charlie Brown b/c he's a little baldie!), and Christmas....

what else could I do besides a baby book? He will need his first Christmas ornament....

Can you tell I'm a first time mom? Lol...

Any suggestions or ideas will be great!

  1. my baby is almost 9 months old and she just learned to clap! she has been reaching for people she wants to hold her for about a month. that's two contributions!

  2. there are so many things to keep track of. the first time that he rolls over, walks with help, walks by himself, crawls first bath at home first time he says a word first time he eats of a spoon ( that's a good one be ready to take pitchers)

i have started a scrap book besides a baby book all of the things that we have done together and then what ever we get for the day goes in there with pictures. it's great to remember all the great things that we have done together. it's already great to look back and see the first time we went to the zoo. i have our arm bands in there with pictures with her first balloon that glued in there.

just remember if you want to remember it you need to save it and if it's   important then it's worth making it go into the scrap book.

  3. Baby's reach milestones on there own time here is a sample :   sitting up 6-7 mths;crawling7-10mths,walking 11-18 mths some will "cruse" along furniture ntill the 18 mth until they are confident do do it on there own this is not very commom but a few will do it.Try taking him to build a bear to make a special  first christmas teddy   you sound like a great mom

  4. Oh wow! There are many. And since every child is different its hard to say when your child will do them if he will. I would suggest getting the book "What To Expect The First Year" or a baby album because they would have a list of milestones to keep track of. Some I can think of off the top of my head are in no particular order:

    first time leaving the house

    slept thru the night

    smiled

    laughed out loud

    rolled over

    sat up alone

    crawled

    held a bottle

    first tooth

    clapped hands

    waved hi/bye

    stood in crib

    held a spoon

    bathed in a tub

    ate solid food

    spoke a real word

    sat in high chair

    fed himself

    pulled up

    took a step

    began walking

    got a haircut

    etc. etc.

Those were some examples out of my baby book.
