  1. Alpha males right, thats a good site to go to.

just in case you want it though, here are the general consensus' of the grips:

continental forehand grip: this grip can be used for every stroke, except its pretty hard to use on the forehand. overheads, slices, volleys, serves, it can be used for all of those with relative ease. i wouldnt recommend using it on a one-handed backhand or one-handed forehand though. its contact point can be back farther than other ones. doesnt get much topspin unless you get really good at it. its easier to get topspin with other grips though

eastern forehand grip: good for forehands for some people. doesnt get as much topspin as a semi-western or western forehand, but more than continental. not recommended to use on serves or overheads. its kind of losing popularity because of the more advanced gear our tennis era is in. contact point is earlier than continental grip. its pretty good for flatter strokes though

semi-western forehand grip: gaining in popularity because of the spin and power it can get. can get lots of spin when utilized correctly with good stroke fundamentals. this is the grip i use on my forehand. contact point is usually farther out than eastern or continental.

western forehand grip: used by juniors but i wouldnt recommend it. even though juniors like to use it, and it gets a lot of topspin, its recommended that you switch to a less extreme grip. seriously, the only thing its good for is topspin and it can get some power behind it, but when used improperly, it just gets a lot of topspin that brings it down in the middle of the court, pops up, and sits up for the other player to smash. rafael nadal is known for using this grip, but he uses it properly by getting good depth and arm extension. also for his massive spin he gets. 5500 rpms a minute. geeez

those are the forehand ones. idk if you use a one-handed backhand or two handed. hope i  helped

  2. Forehand Grips:

Western: This is the grip I use, it is used mainly to generate more topspin but at the cost of less power. This would be a very good grip if you have alot of strength to generate the power of the swing while the grip will already provide the spin. However, it is very hard to hit low balls with this and generate backspin.

Semi-Western: This provides more power but less spin. Most common grip used by pros. You can add extra power or extra spin based on how you perform your full swing (low to high over shoulder generate spin but low to high across shoulder will give flatter, more powerful shots).

Eastern Grip: This grip is used mainly because it is very versatile. You can use topspin with it or hit flat power shots based on how you position your wrist with this grip and even slice with it. The disadvantage is that whatever swing you choose (power or spin) will be milder than the other 2 grips.

For how you hold these grips, here are photos that show you:

    Backhand Grips:

Your right hand on Continental Grip and left hand on Eastern: Allows you to use more of your left hand, provids consistent power while being versatile enough to generate a bit of spin.

Right hand on Eastern and Left hand on Semi-western: A "western" grip designed to generate more spin at the cost of power.

Double-handed backhand: Two hands on Eastern. This allows more range into where to hit the ball but with moderate spin and power.

Remember that your serve grip should be Continental for versatile power and spin but Eastern can be useful for spin, especially if you are using a kick serve.
