  1. Just about anything you can think of... Italy is a fairly large country.

You can visits the ruins of Pompeii (30-40min from Naples by train) or the Roman Forum (in Rome). There are the art museums all over the place but Florence is supposedly the place to be for art enthusiasts. There are plenty of beaches (look at all that coast!).

I wish I had more time to try all the different types of food out there. I ran into many other types of food including chinese, Sri Lankan, etc (just like you would find anywhere else). If you go to Sicily, it's even more diverse. Sicily also has Greek ruins in the Valley of Temples about 2 hours from Palermo.

It's highly education from a history, humanities, art and culinary perspective.

There's also a beach about 2-3 hours from Rome (or near Florence) where there was  WWII landing and a museum there (forgot the city name).

There's a healthy nightlife for adults in the major cities.

Just get a Frommers, Lonely Planet, Fodor's, or whatever else kind of travel guide at your local library or bookstore. There's also numerous sites (i.e. travel.yahoo.com) that can give you more information than anyone who answers your question here.

  5. You have to think only to reserve a room in one of Italian cities.

Close eyes and pick up a name from map.

Once here you'll have only a question for the first day:  am I  in a dream or it is reality.

  6. You can do everything you do in your home country. You can visit monuments, go to National Parks, hike and camp in the mountains (in Italy you even have the Alps), visit important cities.... some that may have been founded even before your country was even on any known map. You can visit islands, swim in various seas (Adriatic, Ionian, Tyrrhenian and of course the Mediterranean), find ancient  Greek & Roman artifacts.

You can eat and drink better than most places in the world. You can easily fall in love with a city and it's inhabitants (this won't certainly happen to you in lovely Newark NJ).

Dream - try to dream about a place that will make you happy at all moments and there in that dream you will find Italy.

  7. theres tons of sightseeing to do. museums.  old buildings, italian food. just walk around and  look
