What are angels exactly????

I know what they are kind of. But what kinds are there and what do they do???

Biblically, Spirits who deliver messages. The Greek angelos simply means messenger and usually applies to people.

Angels were created specifically to do God's bidding. Whether its worship, lead other angels, destroy, etc. Read the Bible throughout, and you will find all sorts of angels. Some are warrior-like such as Michael the Arc Angel, or messangers like Gabriel.

The Bible describes angels dancing and singing around the Throne of God.

These are seperate creatures from man. Many believe that we become angels when we die. This is NOT true. We are created in the image of God, the angels are not.

There are nine orders of angels.

VIRTUES Work miracles on earth. They are bestowers of grace and valor.

POWERS Stop the efforts of demons to overthrow the world, or ellse they preside over demons, or perhaps (according to St. Paul) they are themselves evil. Ertosi, Sammael, or Camael (depending on source) is chief of the Powers.

PRINCIPALITIES Protectors of religion. Nisroc, in Milton, is "of principalities the prime," and others, according to various sources, are named Requel, Anael, and Cerviel.

ARCHANGELS and ANGELS Guardians of people and all physical things.

Angel literally means messenger.  The concept was taking from Zoroastrianism, although the word itself is greek (angelos).

The different kinds?  I have to admit, even though I don't follow christianity, I do find the concept of angels a very nice details and awesome myth (no, i do not in any form incorporate this into my religion).
