What are appropreate tv shows for a young teenager?

I have a 14 year old daughter and was wondering what other parents out there let their young teens watch on television.i have a problem with some of the stuff on mtv and the cursing.but was wondering what to do.

Your daughter is 14. She's been exposed to everythign already; trust me. Cursing is the least bit that you should be worried about. I'm around your daughter's age and the shows I watch are:

Ok, your daughter is a teenager!  You have got to let her watch what she wants to watch.  It's her decision, and you shouldn't make it for her!  Sure you have a problem with cussing, but does she?  You aren't her!  It's time to cut the umbilical cord.  I'm 13 and these are shows I like to watch:

Well Im 15 and choose NOT to watch MTV...i dont care for the swearing, ect. The shows I DO watch, and that my aunt finds appropriate are:

Shows I/My Aunt DO NOT ALLOW:

-MTV [all shows]

-The Simpsons

-Family Guy

-Anything with miderate/severe swearing, nudity, sexual refrences, ect.

If you arent sure what to let her watch, sit down and watch 1 episode of all the shows she wants to watch and if you are watching it and feel that any remark at all was innapropriate or anything, tell her flat out NO and stick to the rule. Approve all the TV shows she watches, and KNOW WHAT SHES WATCHING!!!

Anything that is rated PG-13 is appropriate for your child's age. Some things on MTV are NOT appropriate some good ones to watch are True Life ,Sweet 16 and Pimp My Ride.

Seriously, I agree with the other answerers, stop worrying so much! When I was 12 I watced MTV, R rated movies and stuff like that. Your daughter definately hears more swear words and sexual stuff at school and on the bus anyway.....
