  1. Just get started.  I am so appalled at the stuff I see in my neighbors trash, so MANY of them have 2 cans per resident, that is NUTS.  They have their little recycle box out once a week with a LITTLE stuff .

ME! I earned a $200 check for NOT putting out the trash can!

I recycle just about EVERYTHING.  It is so rare I have to put out trash!

Isn't that how it is supposed to be?!

  2. Believe it or not, start with your toothbrush. At Wal-Mart they have a tooth brush for 2.99 made my Recycline. The handle is made out of 100 percent recycled material, 60 percent of that being recycled yougurt cups. When you are done with the tooth brush you print a pre-paid barcode off and affix it to a package and mail the toothbrush back. They then recyle it again.

They also make razors, tounge cleaners, toothpicks, cookware, plate and utensil sets, ect.

You can also check what your area recycles and start doing it. Such as:

    Plastics- #1 and #2

    Veggie Cans

    Aluminum Cans

    Paper

    Glass

    Newspaper

    Cardboard

    Metal Scrap

    Car Batteries

    Ect.

To get a list of what your area recycles go to www.earth911.org and type in your area.

  3. recycle aluminum cans

  4. 1) Cans

    2) Paper

    3) Glass

    4) Aluminum

    5) Other recycleable metals

    6) Buy more products that are made by using recycled materials, i.e. paper and cans.

    7) Convert your car to use the used cooking oil

    8) Be a "preacher" of green living

    9) Pick up anything that you know can be recycled

    10) LIVE GREENER

  5. I saw lots of great answers and here go my 10:

    1) Don't buy plastic sandwich or gargage bags.  Use the bags you already have.  For sandwiches, I use the plastic bags bread comes in.  For gargage, I use shopping bags.

    2) Recycle everything possible.

    3) Re-use or give away the rest unless it's food waste.

    4) Compost food waste, and make a garden to use it on.

    5) Don't buy or use plastic wrap either.

    6) Re-gift, but be careful to keep a list of who gave you something so you don't give it back to them, and be SURE you remove the card that came with your gift.

    7) Turn off lights.

    8) Unplug everything you are not currently using except the fridge and freezer, washer and dryer and adjust the thermostat in the fridge and freezer to a warmer setting.

    9) Hang clothes out to dry anytime you can.

    10) Bike instead of drive all you can, or use public transportation.

    11) Water plants with dish water.

Uh Oh-- I've got more than 10.

    12) Insulate the water heater.

    13) Insulate the attic.

    14) Insulate the visible hot water pipes.

    15) Buy a hybrid car.

    16) Use what you already have instead of buying new.

    17) Use unbleached paper products and try to reduce them.

    18) I agree with use less stuff, just own less.

    19) Dilute soaps and shampoos and things like that with 50% water so they last longer.

    20) Convert to solar or wind power.

    Ok That's enough

  6. I can only help you with a something we can recycle:

paper, textiles, aluminum, plastic, glass, Printer ink cartridges & toners, batteries, electronic disassembly.. you can look up how to recicly each one of them also this website will help aloton you research paperhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recycling

  7. check this link its good and easy to read

    http://www.gomestic.com/Personal-Finance...

probably taking stuff to second hand stores and buying from second hand stores is important

  8. We rarely look for recycling info when we go to buy things, but that is the first step in the process... choose the recyclable and the recycled product every time.

Next, buy products that will last much longer, so that there is less need to recycle. This often means things with wear parts that can be replaced. The unfortunate part is that vendors have stopped carrying the replacement parts to force us to buy new.

Next, live with far fewer things. instead of crowding your living space with stuff, leave the space empty. Leave the stuff on the store shelves.

When you must discard, separate the stuff into recyclables even when it may be necessary to demolish the item, down to component materials.

Move all food wastes into compost, not the city dump.

Use reusable, not recyclable where possible.
