  1. I've been to both Pisa and Venice.  Pisa main attraction of course is the tower and the surrounding buildings, can be done in a few hours.  In Venice I would suggest booking a walking tour at your hotel.  As you may know there are now vehicles allowed in Venice proper, but you would need a good 2 days to savor all the sites in Venice.  Lots of good restaurants on the main Island.  I stayed on the Island of Lido and took the water bus across to the main Island everyday for sight seeing.  I covered Venice in 2 days.

  2. it depends on how long youwant to stay too!! to see TOURISTY places!! 2 days to REALLY get the feel of the place you can easy spend a week or more to catch the feel and athmosphere of the place and do all the islands, I took my wife there, 3 years ago for 61/2 days and we still did not cover everything,  it was my first time back for 30 years, and i had not forgotten how to find my way around. GET A MAP as you go around where you turn watch and memorise objects hanging on the walls it will be handy to remember on return walk, also streetsigns change colours too from district to district if you use your eyes this way you will manage Venice easy, YOU LUCKY SOUL! happy trip!

  3. you can see everywhere in venice just in 2 days... it is realy small city and I and my friends saw all the city in 1 day by walking...  It is realy good choose, venice is beatiful,,,,

  4. Hello,

The main attraction in Pisa is the leaning tower.

As far as Venice is concerned, you can see the main island in 2 days.  This gives you plenty of time to see the touristy spots and also to get off the beaten path in places like Dorsoduro.  Add another day if you want to go to one of the surrounding islands.  Take a map with you, but remember, Venice is a very small island and if you run into a dead end, just turn around and try again.  There will be signs on the sides of the buildings pointing you in the direction of the major attractions.

As for how to cover Venice, first start out at St. Marks square.  There you can explore the square itself, the bell tower, the archeological museum, the basillica and the ducale palace.  From there, you can easily walk the backstreets to the Rialto bridge.  After that, just explore the city.  Wander down the alleyways and along the promenade.  Take a vaporetto ride down the grand canal just to take in the views.  Wander into the Dorsoduro area to see sights few tourists see.

If you have an ipod or mp3 player that you are taking with you, check out pocketvox.com for downloadable walking tours of Venice.  We did the 2 tours of Dorsoduro and loved them.  We saw areas where there were no other tourists at all.  Just the locals.  It was wonderful.  They also have tours of the major attractions that are great.  The tour of the basillica is better than having a tour guide with you.

    Have a great trip, Donna
